Little did Frank Spady know that 50 years after fighting for his country in Vietnam that he would still be dealing with consequences from the war. But the war has stayed with him all those years. Another thing he didn’t realize would happen, was that medical marijuana for PTSD and seizures would help his quality of life.
A Vietnam Door Gunner that made it out Alive
Frank Spady joined the Army in 1963. He first went to Korea and then spent a grueling 18 months in Vietnam. He served in the infantry as well as a helicopter door gunner. He was one of the lucky ones to make it back home.
Medical Marijuana for PTSD, Nightmares, and Seizures
For years Frank had horrific nightmares. Frightening dreams that resulted in screaming and attempting to kill the enemy in his dreams. Then five or six years ago Frank started having seizures.
The seizures started one hot summer day in Las Vegas. He was swimming in their pool and feelings of the war overtook him. He broke down. That night he had his first grand mal seizure. It took several more seizures and a couple trips to the hospital to realize what was going on.
But medical marijuana has helped…helped him a great deal.
Getting Relief from Natural Medicines that Work
He now sleeps more soundly and nightmares are few and far between. He still sees a neurologist for seizures and takes medication for that. He no longer has the grand mal seizures although he does have ‘aura’ and ‘dissociative’ seizures periodically.
Frank uses medical marijuana just like he does his other medicines. He has predetermined times of the day when he smokes (his preferred method with a glass pipe). He smokes in the morning, evening, and before bed.
“Medical marijuana has helped me a great deal with my PTSD, nightmares, and seizures. I can deal with certain situations better now. For example, I have had instances when I would hear a group of Vietnamese people talking and I would start the feelings, or aura, or a seizure. When using medical marijuana these instances have lessened.”

Any Negative Side Effects were Quickly Dispelled
As some others have experienced, when Frank started smoking cannabis, there was a time or two when he felt a little paranoid and anxious. He adjusted the dosage to a lower amount and has not had any of those feelings since.
Living in Nevada, where medical marijuana is legal, means easy access to dispensaries. There is no reason to worry about trying to buy from illegal sources. In the relatively short time that dispensaries have been open in Las Vegas, Frank has been helped a great deal.
Now that you know a little bit about Frank, here is one more thing to know. Frank is a cofounder of Happy Joe and part of the team here. His goal is to help veterans and provide easy access for those veterans that can use medical marijuana for PTSD and other diseases and symptoms.
