What are the health benefits of CBD?

While adequate scientific research has not been performed on a large scale due to the past prohibition of cannabis and hemp, anecdotal evidence has shown cannabinoids have greatly helped people with a wide variety of health issues.

Since the FDA has not approved any health claims for CBD other than epilepsy, we must be careful in how we state the benefits of CBD. Please see our disclaimer in the website footer.

Anecdotal evidence and limited research highly suggests CBD and other cannabinoids can help:

  • Acne
  • Anxiety
  • Arthritis
  • Chronic Pain
  • Depression
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Heart Health
  • Inflammation
  • Insomnia
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Post Traumatic Stress
  • Psoriasis
  • and more!

Happy Joe will continue to provide education on how CBD can improve your wellness, but we also recommend you conduct your own research online to answer any questions you might have about your specific situation.

Will your CBD products get me high?

Absolutely not!

All Happy Joe Military Grade CBD products contain less than 0.3% THC, which is not enough THC to get you high or cause impairment of any kind. This is within the legal limit for hemp based products and our products are tested by third parties to ensure accuracy.

Special Considerations

It's important to share three very important pieces of information as you consider purchasing any CBD product:

1. Beware that cannabis legal states do offer CBD products with higher THC amounts.

Whether a state has approved medical or recreational cannabis, there are many products in the marketplace that contain BOTH CBD + THC. The THC content is usually higher (5 milligrams and up) and it will cause you to get high.

Always read the label or ask questions from the dispensary or distributor.

2. Ensure your CBD company properly tests their products.

Unfortunately there are CBD companies - retail or online - who don't conduct proper testing and sell products that may contain higher amounts of THC. Not only is this illegal in most cases, it's unethical.

Request a Certificate of Analysis (COA) if the information is not provided on the product or website. The best companies offer COAs with a breakdown of cannabis or hemp properties in their product.

3. Always buy from reputable or credible businesses.

The interest and legalization of CBD or cannabis has created an explosion of new companies in the industry. While this is not bad, it is important to research the company you intend to purchase products from.

It will become clear who you should choose and who you shouldn't.

What's the difference between THC and CBD?

This is a great question and it can be very confusing!

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is one of the 113 cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. It's the psychoactive ingredient that has a profound or significant effective on your mental processes. THC is what makes you feel high.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is another cannabinoid in the cannabis plant. It can be found in both hemp and cannabis, mostly in the flowers (or buds) of the plant. CBD is known for its ability to help a wide variety of health issues. CBD is not psychoactive and will not get you high.

Are hemp or CBD infused products legal?

This has been a difficult question to answer because so much misinformation has been spread and state laws are continually changing.

Federal Law

Under federal law, CBD (or cannabidiol) is classified as part of the cannabis plant and a Schedule I drug. This means CBD is illegal to use and possess federally.

While the DEA said it won't arrest people using CBD, citing it's a misuse of resources, there is always a risk with using any product derived from hemp or cannabis.

Congress recently passed the 2018 Farm Bill federally legalizing industrial hemp in the United States. This means CBD is now legal on a federal level, though the FDA is still working on implementing industry regulations.

Happy Joe will update this section as new updates are available.

State Laws

To make matters more confusing, each state has their own laws on cannabis or CBD. Some states do not allow the purchase or use of CBD products and others do.

CBD is illegal in Ohio and Alabama, while in Oklahoma and Tennessee it isn't. Other states require medical approval. Based on our research, some state authorities are more lenient, while others or not.

So what does this mean for you?

Ultimately, CBD products are not legal in all 50 states, as it's often cited.

Because laws related to cannabis or hemp are continually evolving, we highly recommend you research the laws governing your state before purchasing and using any CBD or hemp infused product. Make your decision from there.

Will I fail a drug test using CBD products?

Full Spectrum

If you're using Full Spectrum CBD products derived from CBD hemp, there are trace amounts of THC (0.3%THC or less) in those products.

While failing a drug test is unlikely with small doses, there is always the possibility you could "pop hot". We encourage you to weigh the pros and cons of using Full Spectrum products if your situation requires drug testing.

CBD Isolates

If you're using CBD Isolate products, they will have zero THC in them. If these products have been properly extracted and tested, you definitely will not fail a drug test.

Happy Joe carries both types of products and its noted in the product description as to whether they contain trace amounts of THC or zero THC.

What products should I start with?

This is a great question! It really depends on what you want to use CBD for.

CBD Oils and Tinctures

Most people start with CBD oil tinctures of 500mg - 1000mg CBD. They will use this for a variety of health reasons. CBD tinctures are placed under the tongue for 30-60 seconds, then swallowed. The benefits can last for up to 8 hours.

Happy Joe recommends our Original or Lemon 1000mg CBD tinctures for most needs. Larger milligrams of CBD such as 2000mg or 3000mg should only be used for more severe ailments.

CBD Creams or Topicals

CBD creams and topicals are the second best solution for pain relief. Muscle creams are very effective for sore muscles, joint pain and inflammation. CBD topicals are applied to your skin and rubbed in. Relief can be very quick and last for several hours.

Happy Joe offers a CBD Muscle Cream at 1000mg, though you can find topicals with less CBD content online.

CBD Vapes, Shatter or Crumble

Vaping or smoking CBD infused products is very popular for a variety of reasons. Vaping gives you instant relief -- though it will only last 1-2 hours -- and it's also easy to do on the go. Vaping CBD is also less harmful than smoking.

Vape Concentrate: CBD concentrate is a liquid to be smoked in a vaporizer or vape pen. It's usually available in 250mg, 500mg, 750mg, and 1000mg strengths and with different flavors.

CBD Shatter: Shatter is a crystal like substance and can be smoked with a vaporizer designed for waxy products. Happy Joe CBD Shatter is~99% pure CBD (zero THC) at 1000mg and currently available in three flavors.

CBD Crumble: Crumble is a waxy substance that can be smoked in vaporizer designed for wax concentrates. Happy Joe CBD Crumble is Full Spectrum (less than 0.3% THC) at 750mg CBD. It's currently available in three flavors.

CBD Coffee

CBD coffee is one of the newest and most popular products in the marketplace. Many Americans love coffee and what better way to infuse CBD into your daily ritual?

CBD coffee is amazing because you get your daily dose of caffeine while reducing the jitters caffeine can cause. It's great for helping you focus while bringing a calming effect over your soul. We LOVE CBD coffee!

CBD Edibles

Many people enjoy the use of CBD gummies and other edibles. These products typically come in lower, defined dosages making it easier to track how much CBD you consume at one time. CBD gummies and edibles are growing in popularity, though they tend to be more expensive than other options.

How much CBD oil should I take?

CBD affects each person differently, so it's important to find what works for you. Example: A lower dose might be perfect for one person with anxiety while a higher dose is needed for someone else.

Happy Joe always recommend starting slow and building up your intake. This helps you see how CBD interacts with your body or other medications you might be taking.

  • Start with filling your dropper with a 1/4 of liquid in the dropper.
  • Squeeze the dropper head to dispense the oil under your tongue.
  • Count to 45 seconds.
  • Swallow the CBD oil.

1. Keep a journal as you begin using CBD or hemp products to guide you in the process. Write down the dosage you took, what time, how you feel, and whether it's providing relief. This will help you lock in the best way to address your symptoms.

2. Consider using the CBD oil in the evening at first, as some people may feel tired or relaxed after using it.

3. Stay on the same schedule for 7-10 days. If you don't notice any difference, increase your dosage incrementally to see what works best for you.

4. Split your dosage to morning and evening or whatever you're comfortable with. Half a dropper at the beginning and end of your day may be the perfect fit for you.

Currently we offer CBD oil tinctures in 500mg, 1000mg, and you can now pre-order 2000mg.

  • 500mg is best for relaxation or light anxiety.
  • 1000mg benefits higher anxiety, depression, back pain, arthritis, and RLS.
  • 2000mg is geared for chronic pain, PTSD, and other tougher to treat issues.

If you discover these tinctures don't provide you the desired results, you might need a higher milligram of CBD or a tincture with higher THC content.

Happy Joe encourages you to consult your physician about using any CBD or cannabis products. Some medications could be affected by these products so it's always a great idea to be safe.

Can I add CBD oil to my coffee, drinks, or food?

While the best way to consume and enjoy the benefits of CBD is sublingually, you can add your CBD oil to drinks and food. In fact, you can even rub the oil onto your skin for topical relief!

There are many websites available with CBD recipes and concoctions so feel free to experiment.

Keep in mind that CBD potency may be lessened by high heat with cooking or dropping it into your coffee, but you'll still get medical benefits from it.

How do I use the crumble or shatter?

The Happy Joe Crumble or Shatter is best consumed by using a vaporizer (vape pen) designed for wax or concentrates. You will inhale and exhale the vaporized liquid.

Crumble or Shatter can also be ingested orally, smoked, or dabbed. Note: CBD vaporizes at a slightly higher temperature than THC.

Happy Joe will have some videos showing you how to consume these products soon.

Should I consider medical or recreational cannabis products?

This is a great question!

There are many incredible benefits of having access to products with higher THC content, the psychoactive ingredient in cannabis.

THC has been effective in helping nausea, anxiety, ADHD, cancer, epilepsy, and other chronic diseases or pains. The only downside for some people is the high associated with THC products.

There are many strains of CBD and THC plants. Some have a higher CBD ratio (20:1) and others really push the limits with THC content (18%-28%). There are low dose edibles or tinctures that are fantastic. There are high dose edibles and vapes that will send you to the moon.

It can take time and research to find the right fit for you -- as well as the possibility of a severe high which can be scary!

Happy Joe believes you should consider the options if you have severe issues AND cannabis is legal in your state. If you don't like the idea of getting high, stick with CBD focused products instead.
